I have commented a couple of times about things local TV news anchors & others state during a broadcast. Here are a few I saw and/or heard the last week or so:
1) Dave Headrick I think is his name KSL/NBC; stay tuned for NBC news with Brian William (it's Williams)
2) Jesse Waters on FOX news; the VA uses an antiquated paper records system. Totally false. The VA is the largest user of electronic record keeping in the U.S.. The software is over 20 years old though
3) After the SCOTUS said a city council in Greece did not violate the separation of church & state by opening meetings with a prayer by clergy, KUTV/CBS anchor stated that council members could now pray if they wanted to.
4) CBS, FOX & NBC have all referred to Secretary Eric Shinseki as General Shinseki. Yes he retired from the Army while serving as the CSA. I always thought that a cabinet secretary was considered a higher honor than a flag officer.
There were many more, but with my memory these are the ones I posted today.

Riding the V-Twin
103 cubic inches with two wheels and Ember paint. Each time I get the chance or take the time out of my not so busy day I ride. Never very far, which is the down side of owning a touring motorcycle. Today with a stop at a Walton Mart for August Osage County blu ray was about 1:23 was quite nice. Weather was beautiful with just a slight breeze along the Mountain View Corridor Highway.
I posted a photo on Instagram with a view of Mount Timpanogus.

Movies
I watched American Hustle a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was a horrible motion picture for about an hour and :50 minutes. The movie was not good until the last 15 to 20 minutes. Does that make it a good movie or just a good ending?
I am watching "August: Osage County" and I am thinking, hoping that this movie ends up the same way. Good, I hope. Thus far I can see why Meryl Streep & Julia Roberts were nominated for Oscars.

PA stabbings
Will the political left, the gun control folks, now want to ban large blade knives? Will they want to limit the age and call for background investigation of those who buy 6 inch plus knives?
Time will tell!

KSL TV News at Noon
This may be the only post for today, but as I said yesterday it is amazing what they put on TV news casts.
A Hip Hop or Rap musician put on some makeup to make himself look white. The tag line on the news stated something like "is he Raecist." Just another example of how literate some people are and the failure of our educational system here in the great US of A.

"NEXT"
Next, what does that mean? Next has a new meaning that I doubt Webster or anyone that is part of the dictionary business would consider. Yesterday a local TV stations' weather man stated that the weather was next. Next, after that came the usual series of commercial spots. Next, after the ads came a story about potential changes to the rules for the board game Monopoly. Next, a story that focused on the weather the east and northeast areas of the US have been experiencing (I couldn't care less about the weather in the NE). After three segments came the "NEXT" part of the news, Weather. I haven't looked up the meaning of NEXT, but I don't think it means sometime in the upcoming time frame of a broadcast. Thanks Sterling.

The News
Have you ever sat watching the 4, 5, 6, 7 or later evening news and just shake your head saying to yourself "did you really just say that?"
I was watching a local weather broadcast and the guy states "and this storm just swooned by the lake and picked up strength". Swooned by, are you serious I said to myself.
Then there is the editor of the scrolling stories at the bottom of the screen during newscasts. I am guessing that the position is an editor, I don't really know what the title is and it doesn't matter as a viewer. In the 3rd or 4th grade I learned that their, there and they're having different meanings. Apparently the first two words have the same meaning in local TV news.
Personally I find it humorous, but there is a serious side to the little mistakes made on local TV live broadcasts. Where did the person receive their education? How could you graduate from a college or university if one of the most basic educational functions is grammar and word usage were not taught or you did not learn?
Look at the semiannual change in time for most of the US and some 70 or so other countries in the world, Daylight Saving Time. Not Daylight Savings Time. There is no savings incurred with time and daylight. I learned this long ago when a TV news anchor, Bob Gibson of KTVX, did an on air editorial about the use of the words Daylight Saving Time and Daylight Savings Time (the latter is not correct). Every March as the change is about to happen more broadcasters use the wrong term, and it does not matter if it is local or a national broadcast/cable/satellite channel.
